National Committee
The Suzuki Owners Club is run by a National
Committee, who are all unpaid volunteers from the membership.
Each Committee Member is responsible (loose description) for
certain aspects of the Club. The National Committee is elected
once a year at the Suzuki Owners Club Annual General Meeting.
If you have a particular query by all means
feel free to write or email them with your question and they
will try to respond at soon as possible. The Club address
is at the bottom of this page, or try the contacts
page for more specific contact details.

I joined the SOC in 1992, although I had been riding Suzuki’s
since 1979 – I had the first GSX750 in the UK when they were launched that year.
I have owned various other marques including Honda CBX1000, YamahaXS650 US Custom, I have never owned a Kawasaki,
don’t know why, perhaps the old “rubber” frames of the ‘70’s machines put me off.
Suzuki is the bike for me, if you cut me in half, it would be like a stick of rock – Suzuki all the way through,
after a brief excursion with a GT250 I moved to my GSX750, since then I have owned GSX1100, GS1000, GS750,
another GSX1100 & GS1000, then I moved to more modern stuff, a GSX750F, RF900 and my pride and joy now is a GSX1400
I try to get out to events when work and family commitments allow, but from where I live in the Lake District I
have an hours travel before I even reach a motorway, I know they are mind numbingly boring, but they are the
fastest way to get from A to B, I do however participate in as many of our local “biking” events as possible,
usually MAG events as we do not have a BMF section around here. I have worked on the club show stands at the NEC,
Stafford, BMF show, Scottish bike show, and Kelso Bikefest plus loads of other events where the club is promoted.
The SOC is to me THE best club in the world, promoting the best make of bike in the world.
If you see me out and about at events, come up and have a chat – none of us bite – honest. If you have a club
related problem e-mail me and I will see if it can be resolved, if I don’t know the answer I will take it to the
NC for you and we should be able to sort it there for you.
Ride safe and keep it rubber side down

Editor
 |
Rick Smith
(aka '?')
|
| My name is Rick Smith, I have been a member of the Club since 1997, when I was "recruited" by Garry Connor. As a member of the Club, I have held two other NC roles, I became the Club Secretary under Dave Hebblethwaite, then the Show co-ordinator (North) position, both jobs had their own unique requirements, but I must confess to enjoying the Show co-ordinator role more. The chance to meet countless great people, Club members, Suzuki personnel, and numerous others. I am also the Centre Secretary for the Cumbria and The Borders Centre.
Taking on the role of Editor was one that I never thought I would undertake, but now that I am getting familiar with the quirks of Quark, I am now starting to enjoy it.
I came into motorcyling late in life, being 36 when I first started riding, then passing my test at 40, it was at this point I met Garry and cannot thank him enough for introducing me to the Club. |

Events Officer
 |
Mick Squires (aka Ziggy)
|
|
Hello I am Mick Squires Events officer, "Ziggy" on the web site.
I have been back into biking for the last 10 years and to be honest I live for my bikes.
I currently ride a 1250 SA Bandit along with a Suzuki Address scooter for doing the
shopping on. I am currently secretary of the Central Shires Centre. The events officers
roles are to add to the boards events entered by the members and authorise them for the
AT competition. Once the event has taken place I input the information from the AT sheets
into the system ready for the annual Invader rally (which I organise) at the AGM the
winners of each category of the Attendance trophy are announced, and trophy’s awarded.
I also carry out a Welfare role, I visit members should they not be very well or perhaps
had an accident. We are able to give members gifts to jolly them along or can even make a
cash donation should the need be there to help them. All I ask of the membership is that
they keep me informed as to where I could be of help as Welfare officer and I will do all
I can to help.
