The Longest Day

on Saturday 20th June 2009, 3 SOC members (Knobblywobbly, Big Bob and Armco Adam) will be joining a group of adventure motorcyclists, to ride from Edinburgh to London - the long way round!

Taking advantage of the longest day of the year, we set off from Edinburgh and travel via Belfast, Dublin and Cardiff before arriving in London, all in under 24 hours, raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses, and our aim is to raise £5000 to help them achieve their goal to grant 21 wishes a week by the year 2010 – please help us to achieve this target by clicking Justgiving and donating whatever you can afford. Every little helps.

Road Surfaces - Help the BMF's campaign for safer roads

Motorcycles and scooters cause less damage to roads than any other motorised vehicles, but are more susceptible to defective road surfaces. Badly maintained roads resulting in worn out surfaces, potholes, sunken drains/inspection covers and use of overbanding etc. are often a contributory factor in motorcycle and scooter accidents.
Help the BMF campaign for safer roads by reporting defective surfaces by clicking here!

Have you, or any of your family members, been involved in a motorcycle or scooter crash that you believe was caused by the use of the road surface material Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA), or you believe was caused by deficiencies in frictional characteristics of the road surface. If so the BMF would like to hear from you.
